Abundant snow extends Sandia ski season

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - The rough weather may be unkind to motorists but it's been good for skiers prompting Sandia Park Ski Area to extend it season through March 21.

Officials of Sandia Peak Ski & Tram report receiving additional snow adding to conditions described as the best in a decade.

"Awesome skiing and boarding have given us no choice but to extend the season an additional week with a snowpack of over 70 inches," a statement from the ski area said.

During the extra week the ski area will be open 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday.
