ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - New Mexico native Manuel Pacheco has been selected by the New Mexico State Board of Regents as NMSU’s new interim president.
Seventy-year-old Pacheco was named as interim president Wednesday morning, a role he’s taken on two times already in the last three years. Pacheco will earn a salary of $360,000.
Former president Barbara Couture recently resigned after she was placed on leave.
Couture will receive a $453,000 separation payment and be allowed to live in the president’s house until the end of the year.
Pacheco is a former President of the University of Arizona and the University of Missouri and served as interim president at New Mexico Highlands University.
