HOBBS, N.M. (AP) - New Mexico Junior College is raising tuition, starting in the fall.
The board of the Hobbs school voted unanimously to increase tuition in response to a drop in state funding.
Board members approved a $3 increase per credit hour for in-district students and a $4 increase per credit hour for out-of-district and out-of-state students.
The college's vice president for finance, Dan Hardin, says the increase will bring in about $150,000 more in the 2010-2011 budget year.
President Steve McCleery says the state Legislature cut the school's budget by 15 percent.
New Mexico Junior College officials say the college already has trimmed about $1 million from its budget and reduced staff.
