ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Governor Martinez spoke to leaders of the state's colleges and universities Monday days after a new report found New Mexico’s higher education facilities were some of the most underperforming nationwide.
The governor wants administrators and regents to come up with a new plan to fix the problem by providing more remedial courses.
Last week, competitive workforce, a U.S. chamber of commerce affiliate, named the state's two-year and four-year public institutions among the worst in the U.S.
The study found that 70 percent of New Mexico college students receive federal aid but only 40 percent of them graduate.
