ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Scott Carter teaches fifth grade at San Antonito Elementary in Albuquerque Public Schools. Carter started teaching as a second career, having previously been a research scientist.
His instruction reflects that experience, tending to be build around projects, with an emphasis on critical-thinking skills. The selection team that made the site visit to Cater's classroom described him as quiet, sincere and humble, but highly respected by students, colleagues, administrators and parents.
Carter has achieved National Board for Professional Teaching Standards Certification. He also participated in 2001 in the Golden Apple Scholars Program for new teachers, the first Golden Apple Scholar to be recognized as a Golden Apple Award winner.
