Former first lady to speak in Hobbs

HOBBS, N.M. (AP) - Laura Bush is scheduled to speak in Hobbs.

The former first lady will be part of the Jack Maddox Distinguished Lecture Series on March 29 at Hobbs High School.

Since leaving the White House, she has continued to remain active in national and global issues, emphasizing education, health care and human rights.

A native of Midland, Texas, Mrs. Bush taught in public schools in Dallas, Houston and Austin, Texas, and worked as a school librarian.

She met and married the former president in 1977.

Tickets to the Hobbs event are free but limited to six per person.
