Former APS board member dies

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - A former elementary school teacher and Albuquerque Public Schools board member passed away on Saturday.

Berna Facio served APS from 2001-2009 in District 3, which covers North Valley, Corrales, a part of downtown Albuquerque and the West Side.

Facio earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of New Mexico and a degree in secondary education from the College of Santa Fe.

She taught at Tomasita and Alameda elementary schools for seven years before her service with the school board.
