ROSWELL, N.M. (KRQE-KBIM) - Friday a judged ordered the Roswell Independent School District to open its doors so a concerned parent could look for mold.
Judge Thomas Rutledge said Paul Taylor can conduct his own examination of the high school after he said the district's examinations were flawed.
Taylor sued the district late last year after he said his daughter got sick from mold at the high school.
The district has done four tests with four different companies, stating the school was safe.
Taylor said the tests were not invasive enough to get to the root of the mold problem.
He said he wants to go into Goddard High School and examine dry wall, sheet rock and other parts of the school. Taylor offered to pay for the cost and possible repairs.
The judge stopped short of that, allowing Taylor to video tape areas inside the school.
He also ordered RISD to preserve anything removed from the school so that Taylor's attorneys can test it.
Some of the tests did confirm that there was mold in Goddard High, but none of the companies would say if it was a health risk.
The judge said he wants all preliminary testing done before the end of the school year.
