NM students learn about flu via Web

SILVER CITY, N.M. (AP) - Western New Mexico University in SilverCity is making students aware of flu through their university e-mail and on the social networking sites Facebook and Twitter.

Western officials and students have met over the past several months to develop flu awareness programs and inform students about their level of risk for swine flu, also known as H1N1.

Hundreds of students and alumni follow the school's fan page on Facebook, where they receive regular updates on campus events and news.

They also get postings on Twitter, such as a posting suggesting they stop by one of the H1N1 tables around campus to learn about flu.

Student government has been distributing pamphlets, posting signs and setting up information tables.
