LAS CRUCES (AP) - New Mexico State University's regents on Tuesday named a new interim president, Manuel T. Pacheco.
Pacheco, a former president of the four-campus University of Missouri system, starts the job June 1.
He also is a former president of the University of Arizona, the University of Houston-Downtown and Laredo State University.
He retired from the Missouri job in 2003 and currently lives in Arizona.
In 2006, Pacheco was interim president of New Mexico Highlands University in Las Vegas.
Pacheco has a bachelor's degree from New Mexico Highlands and a doctorate from Ohio State University.
