LAS CRUCES (AP) - New Mexico State University says recruiters targeting students
in other Western states has helped boost fall enrollment by 8.3
percent compared to a year ago.
The Las Cruces-based university said Friday that campuses
across New Mexico have 29,468 students compared with 27,214
students during the 2008-2009 school year.
NMSU's assistant vice president for enrollment management,
Bernadette Montoya, says recruiters are traveling to Western states
to attract students.
Montoya says NMSU's tuition is lower than California's
in-state tuition.
NMSU's Grants campus saw the biggest gain in students with a
26.8 percent increase in fall enrollment.
Enrollment at the university's Las Cruces campus rose 7.6
percent. At the Carlsbad campus it grew 20.9 percent and
NMSU-Alamogordo gained 14.4 percent.
