Junior Academy runs four weeks

ARTESIA, N.M. (KRQE) - The Artesia Police Department and Police Athletic League are planning four sessions for young people interested in exploring law enforcement as a possible career.

The four-day Junior Law Enforcement Academy runs 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays. It is open to ages 11-17 as is free. Certificates of completion are awarded at the end of each session.

The first academy is currently underway with the remainder beginning on June 14, 21 and 28.

Covered in the program are physical train, wall climbing, rappel town, DWI presentation, New Mexico laws, drug deterrence and demonstrations on crash reconstruction and traffic stops.
