SANTA FE (KRQE) - Santa Fe Police need help tracking down two women that could be linked to a dozen shoplifting incidents just in the month of November.
Police are looking for the women who stole more than $200 worth of merchandise from Kohl's at about 3:45 p.m. Saturday and then tried to run over the manager after he took down the license plate of their getaway car.
The manager says he saw the women walking out without paying, and he ran outside calling for them to stop.
He watched the women get into a white car, possibly an Infiniti, as they started their getaway.
The manager says his back was to the car when he heard it speed up.
He turned around just in time to see it headed straight for him and jump out of the way.
Police are serious about identifying these women and arresting them.
“Not only are they shoplifting but now they are becoming violent. And a lot of times, if they are shoplifting at Kohl's, they probably are shoplifting at other stores,” says Sgt. Andrea Dobyns with Santa Fe Police.
The store manager says the getaway car had license plate number 421RLB.
Police say they can't use the license plate to track down the women because it was not on file, it hadn't been registered in a long time.
If found, the two will likely face misdemeanor shoplifting charges with the driver facing an additional charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon for trying to run over the store manager.
