Socorro, N.M. {KRQE} - A Socorro woman is dead and a man she called friend is charged with her murder. Theresa Saiz's family insists John Hayden was not her boyfriend, But he wanted to be in her life.

“We use to always tell her, you are too trusting you're too kind,” Saiz’s sister Janice Blevins went on to say, “I can't even imagine somebody would hurt her… It's a nightmare.”

Her family says one person in her life wanted more than Theresa was willing to give.

“He was just a friend. She didn't want to date him, he was just a friend,” Blevins said.

56 year old John Hayden is charged with Saiz's disturbing murder.

Police say Hayden beat Saiz, forced her into the trunk of her own car, and then drove her to this arroyo where he left her, in the sweltering 102 degree heat.

Her family says police told them Theresa called 911 from inside the trunk, but couldn't tell police where she was. She did tell police who kidnapped her, though.

This morning cops found the car, with her body still in the trunk.

“I want justice obviously, but that isn't going to bring my sister back,” Belvins said.

Saiz's daughter says she has seen Hayden several times at a bar where she works in Socorro, including last night.

She's sickened by the thought that while Hayden was out drinking, her mother was trapped.

“Right now the only thing I can see is red.” Clarisse Chavez, Saiz’s youngest daughter went on to say, “The only thing I would want to tell him is I hope he gets his.”

Her family refuses to believe Saiz suffered alone.

Blevins said, “That's my comfort, that she was not alone in that trunk, she was with God, God was with her, I know He was.”

Her daughter said, “My mom used to make us dance when we were sad, and I hope she's dancing now.”

Police still haven't said how Saiz died. The mother of three would have turned 51 next month.

She just had her first grandchild.

Hayden is charged with murder, battery, and kidnapping.
