ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - One of the five people in an SUV that police say ran a red light and hit a school police car Monday night, is in a coma.
The silver SUV blew the light southbound on Eubank Boulevard at Interstate 40 around 8 p.m. and hit the marked Albuquerque Public Schools police patrol car as it was turning, according to Albuquerque police.
The force of the collision ejected three people of the five people in the SUV. One of them, a 21-year-old woman, is comatose at University of New Mexico Hospital.
Police said there were drugs in the car and that someone threw a gun out of it. Criminal charges are pending.
The school police officer was not seriously hurt.
