ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - After police arrested Socorro Ortiz, 58, on Saturday for allegedly drunk driving, officers found that Ortiz had a few prior drunk driving convictions.

Late on Saturday, an officer observed a car that was struggling to drive properly. The officer said in the report that the car "tapped [the brakes] multiple times," and that he witnessed the driver "out the vehicle in reverse and began backing down the road."

He pulled over the car and asked the driver if she had been drinking. She responded "No, I was just driving around the block. I live right around the corner" according to police reports.

The officer said she had bloodshot, watery eyes and was slurring her speech. He decided to conduct a field sobriety test. The officer asked her to get out of the car. According to police, Ortiz allegedly "tried to open the driver's side door four times, pulling the door handle and pushing on the door with the door locked." The officer then, according to his report, unlocked the door for Ortiz.

The officer asked Ortiz if she had any medical conditions that would prevent her from performing well on the sobriety test. According to his report, Ortiz said "I can't raise my arms" but proceeded to raise her arms over her head.

According to the report, Ortiz then admitted that she had "a couple beers" and said "I won't do [well] on the test."

The officer placed Ortiz under arrest after she allegedly did poorly. She refused a breath test and insisted on getting a lawyer. The officer discovered she had six prior charges of DWI, including at least four convictions.

When searching the vehicle, the officer allegedly found three cans of beer in the car.
