ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - A famous Albuquerque attorney, whose slogan is "I sue careless drivers," was arrested Saturday night for DWI.

Attorney Ron Bell faces several charges, including DWI, speeding and failure to stay in his lane.

Police said the DWI arrest was for prescription drugs, not alcohol.

The deputy who pulled Bell over said he was fidgety during a field sobriety test and preformed poorly.

Bell was pulled over just before 9 p.m. near the intersection of San Rafael and Tramway.

The deputy said Bell could not stay in his lane and was going 60 mph in a 50 mph zone.

A DWI unit was called out the scene.

When officers asked Bell if he'd taken any prescription drugs that night, he said no but shook his head yes, according to the report.

Investigators said they found a 30-miligram prescription amphetamine in his pocket.

A pharmacist told News 13 that it's a stimulant typically prescribed for children with ADHD.

Bell blew a .00 on breath alcohol test.

Deputies also administered a blood test.

Three bottles of prescription medication were found in the car, according to police.

Bell did not return phone calls from News 13. However, his wife said Sunday that she does not believe he was on any medication and the charges are false.

Until the test results arrive, Bell's charges will stick.

He was released on his own recognizance.
