Weird twist in case of missing man

APD searches for father of 5, man last seen with

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Albuquerque police are searching for a missing father of five, but this case has a weird twist.

The man he was last seen with is someone you don't want to be last seen with -- a man with ties to a Mexican drug cartel that was in the news when an Albuquerque Firefighter was busted.

Police say Jorge Bojorquez was working in his yard off Central Avenue on the West Side a couple of weeks ago when a man he knew, Noberto Alvarez, drove up in a truck.

Bojorquez who has a history of drug arrests, got in the truck and the two men drove away.

But police say Bojorquez left important items behind including his phone and wallet.

Police say they want to find Alvarez, too. He was a suspect in a huge federal drug bust last January involving a group law officers believe has strong ties to a Mexican drug cartel.

The bust included the arrest of now former Albuquerque firefighter Steve Chavez.

Law enforcement found most of the suspects but not Alvarez. Police say Bojorquez and Alvarez knew each other although Bojorquez apparently had no role in the drug ring.

"We do not believe he has any connection to that case at this time," said APD Lt. Gary Reed. "He's missing, and we're concerned."

Family members say they're also desperate to get Bojorquez back.

"It's very important we find my brother," said Jesus Vasquez. "He has kids. He has the whole nine yards. We need him back."

APD is asking anyone with information on the disappearance to contact them.
