ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - The man accused in the shooting death of an Albuquerque mother won a lower bond Tuesday but still won't be getting out of jail.
Arnold Candelaria, 34, is charged with murder and tampering with evidence in the death of Elizabeth Rodriguez, 33.
Rodriguez, the mother of two young boys, was found dead on Nov. 2 at her home in the 200 block of Ranchitos NE.
Candelaria was already in jail when the body was found after being arrested on Oct. 28 on charges of auto burglary and larceny.
The last time Rodriguez was seen alive was three days earlier, but there could be problems with the case.
The criminal complaint indicates Rodriguez' was shot in the head and her body was found wrapped in a blanket. Also, sheriff's investigators say there was evidence that someone had shampooed the carpet and cleaned up blood around the scene.
Investigators also say Rodriguez had been dead at least five days where her body was discovered.
On Tuesday Candelaria's attorney said the criminal complaint and investigation were weak. No fingerprints are discussed and there was blood in his vehicle.
The attorney asked that Candelaria's bond be lowered from $30,000.
Prosecutors cited a long list of past charges and wanted a $100,000 bond.
Judge Victor Valdez said the criminal complaint was "fairly weak" and lowered Candelaria's bond to $20,000.
Candelaria has a long rap sheet. He was convicted on charges of domestic violence in 2002 and 2003 and has 13 prior felony arrests with four convictions and four parole violations.
Even though Valdez did lower the bond today, Candelaria is being held on several no-bond holds, so will likely remain in jail.
