MOUNTAINAIR, N.M. (KRQE) - Authorities are still looking for a Valencia County man accused of trying to murder his wife who fled into the mountains southeast of Albuquerque Wednesday.
Dale Nielsen, 43, was spotted in Mountainair but took off leading police on a chase into the Manzano Mountains.
They later found his truck crashed among the juniper and piñon trees.
Officers and bloodhounds continued the hunt, but Nielsen managed to elude them. The search was then called off as a winter storm moved in.
U.S. Marshals said Nielsen may still be in the area of Torreón, Mountainair and Punta de Agua and trying to make his way back to Los Lunas.
He is 6 feet tall, weights 210 pounds and has brown hair, brown eyes and numerous tattoos including skulls, dragons and wizards.
Nielson is accused of stabbing his wife in the neck on Feb. 11.
