CLOVIS, N.M. (KRQE) - An employee of the Clovis Walmart has been sentenced to eight years in prison for stabbing two customers.
Guadalupe Murillo, 32, was found guilty of of two counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and a misdemeanor count of unlawful possessions of a switchblade knife, according to a statement released Tuesday by the office of Ninth Judicial District Attorney Matt Chandler.
During the trial prosecutors Andrea Reeb and Christopher Westenberger showed Carlos Lopez and Celestino Owens came into the Walmart in August 2010 shopping for food for a cookout and accompanied by their families.
Murillo, who was on duty, approached Lopez threatening to fight and then pulled the knife and stabbed Lopez in the chest and arms.
Owens was stabbed once below the chin while trying to take the knife away.
Both men were taken to a hospital for treatment, and police arrest Murillo in the Walmart automotive section where he worked.
