Dylan Redwine likely not a runaway, sheriff says

DURANGO, Colo. (KRQE) - The search for a missing Colorado boy is about to get much more intense.

Several hundred volunteers are expected to join law enforcement on Saturday to do a sweep of road that runs between Vallecito and Durango.

Investigators say they have no new leads in their search for Dylan Redwine, 13, but La Plata County Road 240 is a common route between the two towns.  Search coordinators said they want to make sure they get a good look at that area before the snow hits on Sunday.

"Not knowing where Dylan is--if he is in a higher elevation or even down in lower elevations--and snow hits that could cover up clues," Public Information Office Dan Bender of the La Plata County Sheriff's Office told KRQE News 13.

Redwine was last seen on Nov. 19 at his father's home in Vallecito northeast of Durango.

Investigators have now searched that home twice.

They have also conducted thorough searches of the neighborhood and forest areas surrounding the home and have slowly branched out and have probed Vallecito Reservoir.

On Saturday they expect to have some 200 volunteers join in the search.

They want to search all the areas along the road including nearby ditches.  A storm is forecast later in the weekend.

While investigators say it looked like a runaway case at the start, it doesn't look that way anymore.

"With the time passage and the fact that Dylan was very socially active as far as being on the Internet, Twitter and such, and there's been no sign of him electronically or visually, we are looking at the probability of foul play, kidnapping or abduction," Bender said.

Investigators say they have no suspects and that Dylan's father continues to cooperate with them.

Saturday's effort is scheduled to launch about 8:30 a.m. from the Edgemont Ranch picnic area and last until at least 4 p.m.
