ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - We are getting our first look at the wife of an Air Force major, just moments after she claimed her husband made her kill him. It's a story the cops didn't buy and now she's charged with his murder.

It's a strange story and at times the video leaves you wondering more about just what happened the night Amy Herrera and her husband Marc went into their closet together and only Amy came out.

“He said here is the gun it's cocked. Look, he put it in my mouth, he put my hand on the trigger,” Amy Herrera tells an officer about an hour after her husband Marc was killed inside the couples’ home.

Herrera is in the back of a cop car, covered in blood. in the early morning hours of July 1st. So what led up to this?

From the moment the first officer gets on scene you can hear the sobs coming from the Herrera’s northeast heights home.

Exchange students, who had been living with the Herreras', meet the officer at the door and rush him upstairs. Inside the small walk-in closet of the master bathroom cops find the body of Air Force Major Marc Herrera.

The students, who are distraught, tell the officers that they were all at a party at the Herreras’ home. They say Marc pulled a gun after finding one of the male students in a female's room. Amy says she calmed her husband, who's autopsy later showed he was very drunk, and led him into the bedroom.

Herrera told officers her husband pushed her down and put her finger on the trigger and forced her to pull.

His autopsy would show that the gun wasn't in his mouth and that the struggle she described between them didn't match with the evidence.

Because Major Herrera was in the Air Force, a team of military detectives did their own investigation into the case along side Albuquerque Police.

You can see an Air Force representative in one of the videos; when detectives are photographing Amy Herrera’s bruises.

On top of the evidence and conflicting stories about what happened that night detectives say Herrera also confessed to murdering her husband to a friend.

Herrera has been charged with murder. She is currently out of jail on an ankle monitor awaiting trial.
