SANTA FE (KRQE) - Vandals tore through a Santa Fe neighborhood early Saturday morning and left behind a pricey path of destruction.
Police say someone broke out windows to cars and businesses in the Santa Fe neighborhood near St. Michaels and Pacheco Street. Neighbors are now trying to pinpoint who’s responsible for thousands of dollars in damage.
Police aren't sure how many suspects are involved but say the weapons of choice appear to be rocks.
"They threw rocks from the landscaping through a variety of business windows, possibly residents home windows and also through glass on vehicles in the area," said one victim who didn't want to be identified.
The window to his business was shattered with a rock, but it was double pained so the vandals didn't quite make it inside. He still said the damage hurts.
"I have no idea what they cost to replace, but I'm sure we're going to find out," he said.
Half a dozen other businesses were attacked including the Double R. Design, Virginia's Hair Gallery and two windows near the Republican Party Headquarters.
Victims say they can't believe someone would be so destructive.
"It's senseless vandalism and accumulates an unanticipated expense to individuals and businesses."
Because the crimes happened in such a busy neighborhood, police hope there is surveillance video. They are canvassing the area for more clues.
So far nothing has been reported stolen. If caught the vandals could face felony criminal damage charges.
