ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - What do a seafood restaurant, movie theater, and hospital have in common? All of these places have topped Albuquerque Police’s list for the places your car is most likely to get broken into.
“They don’t take two or three minutes, 10 seconds is a lot of time to pull your stereo out, grab your purse,” said APD Sgt. Donovan Olvera.
Olvera pulled police reports and made a list of the top five places your car is likely to get broken into, based on police reports from this year.
Here is the list:
Sgt. Olvera spoke about why some of the spots may be targets. When it comes to Presbyterian, the rush you're in when there is an emergency may have you forgetting the basics.
“They get that phone call and they want to rush into the hospital and believe it or not a big reason why cars get broken into is people leave their cars unlocked,” said Olvera.
He said if you are at the mall; beware of pairs that split up.
“It's not uncommon for one person to follow the victim while the other person is burglarizing it and then give them a heads up, ok they are heading back to the car,” Olvera said.
Police are working these areas to catch crooks in the act.
