DEMING, N.M. (KRQE) - More arrests have been made and another is pending in a shooting at a southwestern New Mexico rest stop.

Salvador Sepulveda, 33, Martha Ramos Cano, 38, and Ashley Ortega, 26, were arrested in Grant County over the weekend.

Police believe Cano persuaded the group that included reputed gang member Nathan Rowland to rob Eric Arzate at the rest stop on U.S. Highway 180 between Deming and Silver City.  Their plan went awry, however, and Arzate, 44, of Las Cruces, was shot.

Rowland was arrested last week after a fiery SWAT standoff in Silver City.  He had earlier been placed on the U.S. Marshals Service list of most-wanted gang offenders .

Investigators told a reporter for the Deming Headlight another arrest is pending.

Arzate was released from the hospital last week.
