ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - A neighbor dispute that escalated into a SWAT standoff with a school locked down has ended, according to Albuquerque police.

The incident began with police responding to a neighborhood at 9th Street and Pacific Avenue SW around 9 a.m. One of the neighbors then went into his home, refused to come out and said he would not be taken alive, police reported.

That brought out the Albuquerque Police Department SWAT team which closed of streets in the immediate area.

Dolores Gonzales Elementary School a block to the north was place on lockdown for about 30 minutes and then went to its shelter-in-place procedure. Under shelter-in-place students can move about within the school but no one is allowed to enter or leave the building.

After SWAT officers made repeated loudspeaker announcements the man in the home came out and was taken into custody at about 10 a.m. His name has not been released, but police said they had been to the house before.

The school returned to its normal routine shortly before 10:30 a.m.
