ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Police have arrested a man accused of renting houses he doesn’t own.
Shaun Anaya was picked up Tuesday on a forgery warrant.
Officers say Anaya ran a con game under a company he created called Olive Tree Property Management.
Anaya is accused of breaking into foreclosed and vacant homes, changing the locks and then renting them to unsuspecting tenants.
Some of those tenants paid hundreds of dollars in advance only to be kicked out of the homes a short time later when the legitimate property custodian found them living there.
Anaya is suspected of being involved in at least 20 cases.
