SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) - Police arrested 56-year-old Deborah Aaron of Santa Fe. She was booked on suspicion of driving while intoxicated and vehicular homicide. Investigators say she collided with a minivan carrying both children late Friday night.
The children's mother Carla Vasquez Rivera was driving a van with 3-year-old Yeretez Jasmine Reyes Vasquez, and 4-year-old Juliana Reyes Vasquez. Police say both children were in booster seats at the time of the crash.
Both drivers sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Aaron remained hospitalized and would be booked into jail after doctors release her. The 3 year old is said to be recovering from her injuries.
Police say Aaron failed a field sobriety test on scene. A blood test was taken from both drivers, but results won't be back until Tuesday.
