ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - It was like a scene straight out of a movie, a suspected drunk driver takes off running from police, scales a building, and runs across the roof – taunting police to shoot him.
The incident went down near Coors and I-40 Friday Night.
Police say Jacob Mares, 18, hit two parked cars and then took off. When police arrived the found Mares climbing up to the roof of a Motel 6. He then paced the roof for over an hour, alternately threatening officers and asking to be shot.
Finally officers were able to talk Mares down and take him into custody.
Inside the car Mares was driving was a 14-year-old girl.
Police are trying to determine the relationship between Mares and the girl but in the meantime he’s been charged with child abuse.
