ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Bernalillo County sheriff's deputies now say a wanted man found dead in his crashed car Tuesday night shot himself as officers closed in.
Deputies were looking for Irvin Ordoñez, 21, on a charge of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
They spotted his car near Unser and Gibson in southwest Albuquerque about 9 p.m. and tried to pull it over. But the car suddenly swerved into a cinder block wall and rolled on its side.
Ordoñez was dead in the wreckage with a gunshot wound in the head, according to a statement released Wednsday.
