LOS LUNAS, N.M. - One of three burglary suspects accused of taking a shot at a neighbor who tried to intervene is now in custody.
Two more are still on the loose, but there are warrants for their arrest
Valencia county sheriff's deputies say Jeremy Hicks, Josh Adams and an unnamed 15-year-old girl are accused of breaking into a home in Los Chavez north of Belen on Wednesday.
When a neighbor used his truck to block them in, they opened fire hitting the truck twice.
The neighbor backed off and the burglars got away.
Hicks, 24, was arrested late Friday and is being held on a $50,000 cash-only bond. He is charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, shooting from a motor vehicle and burglary-related crimes.
Earlier Friday officers got a tip one of the suspects was inside a Belen home Friday. That brought out the SWAT team and locked down a nearby elementary school for a few hours during the morning.
Two women were taken from the home but later released.
Hicks, Adams and the girl were busted in April for breaking into cars and homes across New Mexico.
The search continues for Adams and the girl.
Among the items taken in the burglary was a lock box containing irreplaceable records on the foreign adoptions of the victim's two children. An anonymous donor has offered a $500 reward for the safe return of the lockbox contents.
