ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - A grand jury has indicted a man police say abandoned his 2-year-old daughter during a traffic stop and then held another family hostage.
Manuel Romero, 20, faces a number of charges, including child abuse and extortion.
Albuquerque police say when officers tried to pull Romero over near Coors Boulevard NW and Iliff Road last month, he fled on foot leaving his toddler behind.
Police then say he barged into a woman's home and held her and her two children hostage.
Romero was quickly arrested, and it was discovered that he had three outstanding warrants.
