Sunport pair investigated for break-in

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - KRQE News 13 has confirmed an unusual security breach at the Albuquerque International Sunport where at least two workers are suspected of being up to no good.

Those workers are accused of breaking into the Albuquerque Aviation Police Department evidence room at the Sunport.

It was serious enough that one employee has been booted from the Sunport and the other suspended.

A spokesman for the Sunport said aviation police are investigating the workers, a man and woman, who had unauthorized access to the evidence room.

They won't say what their jobs were before this went down, what was in the evidence room or if the workers took anything.

The Sunport spokesman said he was not allowed to do an interview either. He did confirm one employee was reassigned and the other put on leave.

Prior to this both had access to other areas of the airport including luggage.

The spokesman said the public was not at risk and that the investigation should take about two weeks. They also say whatever these two were up to, there are cameras everywhere, and there is video.
