ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - A smash-and-grab thief recently netted $10,000 worth of tickets to the Ty Murray Invitational held in late March.

Albuquerque Police tell News 13 a Sandia Casino employee left a high school baseball game at Sandia Prep School Tuesday night to find her truck had been broken into on El Parasio Road.

Inside the truck was a briefcase containing hundreds of tickets to the Professional Bull Riders show.

Police don’t believe the thief or thieves knew the tickets were inside the briefcase when they grabbed it.

“They just figured it was a briefcase,” Officer Rob Gibbs said. “Nine times out of 10 it may something of value inside of it and it turns out $10,000 worth of PBR tickets.”

The woman, who hasn’t been identified by police, was very upset because the tickets cannot be voided.

Police have been going online to see if the thief tried to sell the tickets on craigslist.org or another ticket-selling Web site.

Investigators have not been able to find the stolen tickets online and when News 13 tried to, all we could find was someone who needs tickets and links to Web sites that sell tickets legitimately.

If the tickets are sold online and police don’t catch it, they believe it’ll be impossible to track them down.

The PBR “Ty Murray Invitational” will be held at The Pit March 26-28.

Sandia Casino is a sponsor of the event.
