SANTA FE, N.M. (KRQE) - Santa Fe Police are trying to track down a 15-year-old girl after classmates said she brought a gun to Santa Fe High last week.
"She pointed the handgun at other students and made statements similar to, do you want to die today," said Captain Aric Wheeler of the Santa Fe Police Department.
Police now believe the gun the girl brought to school was a bb gun but fellow students thought it was the real deal.
"They believed that it was a real firearm they believed they were in real harms way," Captain Wheeler said.
According to the arrest warrant affidavit another student wrote a teacher a note telling her they were afraid.
The teacher then contacted an administrator, but the teen had already left for the day.
"Anytime somebody brings a weapon to a school it's a serious, serious infraction, I think you put all parents on notice, it makes them extremely concerned," Captain Wheeler said.
The teen was suspended the following day, February 5th before police were able to interview her.
Initially Captain Wheeler said the girls father was cooperating with investigators, but not anymore.
"We're trying to locate this 15-year-old female and bring her into custody so that we can one, get her side of the story and so she can answer for the allegations posed against her," said Captain Wheeler.
She is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and unlawful carrying of a deadly weapon on school premises.
