SFPD: Suspect videotaped young boys

SANTA FE (KRQE) - Santa Fe police said a man now facing charges of sex crimes against a young boy videotaped him and other boys.

Investigators said they believe there are victims that could go back to 1989.

Police arrested Jacob Pinto, 43, Thursday morning at his home in Santa Fe. Detectives said a video that recently surfaced was shot by Pinto in 2010. On it a 15-year-old boy without a shirt could be seen lying on a carpeted floor in Pinto’s apartment.

Police Capt. Aric Wheeler said there was money next to the boy and an egg timer ticking away. Police said the boy identified Pinto as the man behind the camera who could not been seen but was heard.

“We believe the egg timer was there to time the amount of exposure that the child had to be exposed while this individual satisfied himself sexually,” Wheeler said. “It’s traumatic to see the pain that is in this young boy's eyes laying there in and this act is taking place.”

According to a criminal complaint, the boy told detectives Pinto also laid on top of him while both were shirtless and tried to force the boy to touch him. That was not on camera.

However, there was a lot more that was.

Police said on the same recording card were other videos taken at the bicentennial public swimming pool of more boys. Detectives said all of them were shirtless and very young.

“They're young boys probably from the age 10 to 14,” Wheeler said.

Police don't know if the boys were paid or if they even knew what Pinto's intentions were. However detectives said the video shows that Pinto did approach them. He asked some if he could take their picture and others to pose.

On Thursday, the case grew even bigger after a search warrant of Pinto's home revealed more pictures of boys at a local school, a gymnasium, a nearby park and more at the pool.

Police also found cutouts of young boys from magazines that are similar to the pictures of the boys that he took.

Detectives don't know the identities of the other boys and are now asking anyone who's been approached by Pinto to come forward.

The boy in the video at Pinto's apartment told detectives he was first approached by Pinto to help move some furniture with a promise that he'd be paid. But then that job took a disturbing turn.

He told police Pinto paid him $100 for letting him videotape him. He also said Pinto offered $4,000 not to tell police.
