Police still searching for killer

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) - Joint services were held for two teens who were gunned down near an Albuquerque arroyo Thursday.

Monday Garcia's Mortuary was packed with loved ones lining up to remember Jeremy Trujillo, 16, and Samuel Gutierrez, 17.

The teens were shot Thursday just after 2 p.m. in Southwest Albuquerque near Robert F. Kennedy Charter High School.

Family members say both will be dearly missed.

Trujillo and Gutierrez both attended Robert F. Kennedy Charter High School, before Gutierrez transferred to Bataan Military School last year.

One relative said Trujillo loved to be outdoors and enjoyed fishing and hiking. Family members say Gutierrez liked to dress up and joke around.

"He would look in the mirror and just check himself out for like two or three hours," said his brother Louis Padilla. "He was a great kid."

Administrators at the victim's school said nothing out of the ordinary happened at school Thursday, but for some reason the boys left campus.

Cameras caught them walking in the arroyo with their backpacks around 2 p.m. when the killings happened. School lets out at 3 p.m.

Police say the have received dozens of tips after releasing surveillance video of the murder.

They are not identifying persons of interest at this point, but say they are following dozens of leads.

Police also will not say if the shooting was gang related.
