ALBUQUERQUE, NM (KRQE) - A brawl caught on a cell phone camera shows two Desert Ridge middle school students duking it out to the surprise of many parents.
But, students told News 13 it's just one of a dozen fights carried out over the last week.
The fight is about a minute long and the whole thing was posted on you tube about two weeks ago.
It's had 500 views, but most parents had no clue, tough their kids did.
The video is very shaky and full of chants and screams from on lookers, but it's very clear what's going on.
Students at desert ridge said knew it was coming.
Student Josh McArthur, “They usually like talk bad about each other so they decided to fight to settle their arguments or something.”
The fight video, posted two Sunday's ago, is the only one from Desert Ridge on the popular social media site.
Student's said the some kids from the middle school get into daily brawls.
Kyle Carson, also a student, said, “I've seen like 5 fights within the last week or so.”
Most of those fights are happing just down the street from the school, in an arroyo.
Parents News 13 spoke with had no idea, “It's pretty brutal and almost psychotic in a way, Joe Lohnes said. He went on to say, “(The kids are) Behaving like it's WWE or MMA and there is no place for that.”
Jason Seymour said, “It's kind of shocking how they film it and kids are down there fighting each other.”
Someone brought video of the fight to school the next day and teachers got wind of it.
A district spokesperson told us all of the student's who could be identified in the video were disciplined.
Student Josh McArthur said, “All of them got suspended for about three days.”
There is no word on whether either of the kids was hurt in the fight.
Some parents were too concerned to talk to us on camera, worried their children would be targeted if they commented on the video.
