Santa Fe, NM (KRQE) - The State Health Department says 34 year old James Ruiz's blood- alcohol level was .22 after he reportedly caused a fatal chain- reaction crash in Santa Fe.
That is nearly three times the presumed level of intoxication.
Police say Ruiz's truck slammed into the back of a car on Cerillos Road, killing 19 year old Del Peshlakai and her 17 year old sister Deshauna.
Their parents were hurt in the accident and taken to Cristus- St. Vincent Medical Center.
Ruiz remains in jail charged with two counts of vehicular homicide.
