ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - The name of the bicyclist who died Monday afternoon when an out-of-control car flew off Paseo del Norte and onto a bike trail has been released by the Bernalillo County Sheriff's Department.
David Anderson, 56, was riding on the trail with his family near Rio Grande Boulevard NW when the collision occurred at about 4:50 p.m. He died at the scene.
According to investigators Miranda Pacheco, 25, was headed east on Paseo del Norte in a 2007 Kia when she lost control, crossed all three lanes of Paseo and went through the barrier and over a dirt embankment before striking Anderson who died at the scene.
Pacheco told deputies she had been cut off by another driver causing her to lose control. She was treated for minor injuries.
Pacheco did not appear to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol, deputies said. The sheriff's office has yet to release information on possible citations or charges.
