DEMING, N.M. (KRQE) - A judge has denied a motion to free two Deming firearms dealers convicted in connection to an alleged gun smuggling operation.
Rick and Terri Reese and their youngest son Ryin were acquitted of charges they helped smuggle guns to Mexican cartels but were convicted of falsifying federal firearms sales forms.
Their attorney filed a motion asking that Rick and Ryin be released while they file a motion seeking a new trial.
Terri has already been free.
The defense claims the governments failed to disclose information about a key witness before the trial.
