ALAMOGORDO, N.M. (KRQE) - A mistrial has been declared in the case of a woman charged in the shooting death of her ex-girlfriend.
Shavon Twitty, 33, was shot in cold blood after she finished eating in an Alamogordo Burger King in June 2011.
Melissa Mathis and two friends were arrested shortly after and charged with murder.
Investigators think Mathis was upset because Twitty had called off their six-year relationship.
But now a judge has declared a mistrial because the prosecution didn't provide the defense with a ballistics report until the night before the trial was set to begin.
