LOS LUNAS, N.M. (KRQE) - Officials are investigating the death of an inmate Saturday inside a state prison in Los Lunas.
The Department of Corrections says around 7 a.m. corrections officers found inmate William Owens dead at the Central New Mexico Correctional facility.
Officials say Owens was being treated for a serious existing medical condition.
However, authorities are waiting for the state Office of the Medical Investigator to determine the official cause of death.
Owens was serving a five-year sentence for drug trafficking.
