Polish men arrested for driver's license fraud
MVD staffer spots false residency documents

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Three Polish men are facing felony charges for allegedly trying to defraud the state into giving them a New Mexico driver's license.
Authorities say Piotr Pietrusiak, Kamil Cieszynski, and Lukasz Tutak, all illegal immigrants, came to New Mexico from Illinois to try to obtain a driver's license after hearing that it was easy.
Investigators said the men admit to renting an apartment, opening a bank account and receiving a tax ID number from the IRS in an attempt to prove residency even though they had no plans of staying here.
MVD employees were tipped off when they noticed the men's information, all turned in at the same time, was identical.
MVD has enacted several fraud-prevention efforts since New Mexico legalized driver's licenses for illegal immigrants because of an increase in fraud. Now all applicants from illegal immigrants must be turned into one office and reviewed by one person.
That person flagged this case.
MVD officials say when confronted the three men admitted to the fraud. They are now in the Bernalillo County Metropolitan Detention Center.
