FARMINGTON, N.M. (AP) - A law enforcement academy that trains new recruits in northwestern New Mexico is looking for a new home.
San Juan College, citing financial reasons, has ended its 14-year partnership with the Criminal Justice Training Authority.
The current class of seven cadets will be the final one at the college. College President Carol Spencer says the training authority did not reimburse the college for the space.
San Juan County Sheriff Mark McCloskey, who is chairman of the authority's board, says it will be a financial burden for law enforcement to relocate.
The board includes representatives from the Aztec, Bloomfield and Farmington police departments, the sheriff's office, state police, the district attorney and the college.
The program will leave the college Dec. 31.
