Police search for murder suspects

RIO RANCHO, N.M. (KRQE) - Police are investigating the murder of a Rio Rancho man.

Officials said they found James R. Chavez dead and believe killer or killers probably knew the man they murdered.

Neighbors said they have seen a lot of people come and go from the home at 93 Idaho Creek in Rio Rancho, but no one has really lived there for the past six months.

Police said early Sunday morning someone called 911 saying a dead man was inside.

When officers arrived, they found the man but did not find anybody else.

“We have several people we've interviewed with a number still pending, but no suspects as of this time," Paul Rogers said.

Rio Rancho police say the victim was about 35 years old.
