ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - A man accused of storing 600,000 child pornography images is in federal custody.

Detectives with the Albuquerque Police Department and FBI said Antonio Gutierrez, 42, bribed a teenage girl with a free cell phone in exchange for nude photos.

Investigators said Gutierrez and the teen met in May 2011. According to a federal criminal complaint, Gutierrez said the bill for the first month would be free. After that, she'd have to pay him in nude photos. Eventually, Gutierrez forced himself into the sexually explicit photos, even though the girl repeatedly said no and offered to do other things for the phone, said investigators. Gutierrez allowed her to clean his yard and wash his car but told her afterwards that he lied and "it wasn't enough."

APD detectives acting on a tip contacted the teen in November 2011. Police served a search warrant on Gutierrez's former home on the Westside.

"He had five computers, over 100 DVDs, 50 micro sd cards," said Officer Robert Gibbs.

On them, police found 600,000 child pornography images. Gibbs said police called in the FBI to help investigate.

"It's not uncommon for someone to be involved in this activity to amass that many images," said Gibbs. "It takes awhile for the forensic examination of those items to be conducted, anywhere between 6 months to a year."

Gutierrez was finally arrested on Tuesday.

Parents who live near Gutierrez now said they are horrified.

"My son was going to cut weeds for him. He seemed like a pretty nice normal guy. He said that he could go swimming or something like that after cutting weeds," said concerned parent Nicole Miller. "To have someone like that live so close to my kids, I'm really disgusted."

Police said they are still investigating how long Gutierrez was taking and downloading photos of kids and whether he was distributing them.

Gutierrez is in federal custody.
