ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - The State Fair area can be a haven for drunk drivers.
According to APD, a DWI checkpoint at Louisiana and Constitution resulted in the arrests of eight people overnight.
That is just north of the state fair.
APD’s DWI unit set up the checkpoint between 11 o’clock Saturday night and 3 o’clock Sunday morning.
APD also reports seizing one vehicle.
Police are also going after auto theft suspects around the State Fair.
APD reports detectives with several APD units working bait car operations arrested six people this weekend alone.
The operations are based in the department's southeast area command where the state fair is located.
