CHIMAYO, N.M. (KRQE) - Rio Arriba County sheriff's officials are investigating a homicide in Chimayo.
The victim is a 24-year-old Chimayo resident.
A spokesperson with the sheriff's department says a neighbor called 911 around 2:30 Sunday morning after hearing gunshots.
The sheriff's office says for some reason state police did not respond.
Sheriff's deputies responded after another call to 911 after another resident found a body in a front yard on County Road 91.
The Rio Arriba sheriff's office says the victim was killed by a single gunshot wound.
Investigators have multiple persons of interest.
